XGR XML Lab is a professional-grade XML development environment built for technical authors, researchers, and developers who work with structured content. Whether you are building documentation, publishing books, or producing complex scientific reports, XGR XML Lab provides a complete pipeline from XML source to finished output β€” without compromise.

Three Specialised Script Engines

Version 3.0 ships with three dedicated transformation engines, each designed for a specific publishing workflow:

The General XSLT Engine gives you full control over XML-to-output transformations. Use it for custom pipelines, data transformations, HTML generation, Excel export, EPUB packaging, and PDF production via Apache FOP.

The Book1 Engine targets straightforward document publishing β€” technical manuals, internal documentation, and DocBook-style single-volume books. Clean structure, predictable output, fast turnaround.

The Book2 Engine is built for advanced research and academic publishing. It handles multi-part documents with complex hierarchies, cross-references, and advanced mathematical notation. Authors write equations directly in XML using LaTeX/AMS-Math syntax; XGR XML Lab renders them natively into PDF with full LaTeX-quality typesetting.

Built-in Equation Rendering

Simply write mathematical expressions inside XML elements using LaTeX syntax, and the software handles the rest β€” producing publication-quality equations in the final PDF output. This makes XGR XML Lab uniquely suited for scientific papers, engineering reports, and academic textbooks.

Multi-Format Output

  • PDF β€” via Apache FOP, with full typography control
  • HTML β€” standards-compliant, styled output for web publishing
  • Excel β€” structured data export for spreadsheet workflows
  • EPUB β€” reflowable e-book format for digital distribution

What's Coming

XGR XML Lab is under active development. Future versions will introduce additional transformation pipelines, extended format support, and enhanced tooling for collaborative XML authoring environments.
